This one isn’t so much for the champagne-swigging, stiletto-wearing moms out there; this is more for the Earth Children. I just know that the dilapidated, hippy-esque state of Oude Molen Eco Village in Pinelands will disturb some people. If you look past the broken windows above the backpackers and the occasional stray dog, it does have a lot of rustic charm. There are chickens and horses, a farm stall, a nursery and The Playshed, a cute play centre for kids with a modular jungle gym, dress-up area, push bikes etc. They also have a coffee shop so you can have a piece of cake and a cappuccino while your kids entertain themselves. It can get a bit busy and the adults’ seating area isn’t very big, but I have never had a problem getting a table. If you are up for something a bit different, stop by from Thursdays to Sundays, 9am to 5pm. Afterwards you can visit the horses at the Oude Molen stables, which is always a treat for city kids. You can visit their website at http://theplayshed.appspot.com/ or find them on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Playshed/371270267282 for contact details.
