The Sea: A Rich Source of Beauty & Wellness

I have lived in Cape Town all my life, except for a two year stint in the Natal Midlands (boarding school and all that), and I have a very deep attachment to the sea. I live a minute or two’s walk from the beach, and the thought of staying anywhere away from the sea makes me feel claustrophobic. I recently won a bottle of Kelslim and after reading their newsletter it got me thinking about what an unrivalled source of goodness the sea is. So I have rounded up some of my favourite products for anyone wanting to ride the marine health and beauty wave.

Kelp has such amazing benefits because it is so high in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, and a whole lot of other good stuff. It aids digestion, helps regulate the thyroid gland (I don’t even have a thyroid gland, so I need all the help I can get!), and has anti-inflammatory and cancer-fighting properties. And we shouldn’t forget that sea water contains essential minerals in proper proportions which can be used as fertiliser and supplements. Dead Sea salts also have amazing benefits for the skin and body due to the mineral content. The benefits of marine ingredients in skincare seem to be pretty well researched and proven, so I am all for embracing the goodness which the sea has to offer – as long as ingredients are harvested sustainably!
