Dry Skin Superheroes

I might have mentioned it once or twice that I have been suffering from sudden and inexplicable dry skin. Despite being prone to breakouts I haven’t got oily skin or even an oily T-zone, but since having a thyroidectomy in 2011 I have had drier skin than usual, which is one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. It has been completely manageable using the correct skincare products, but this recent issue has been difficult to treat.

My forehead in particular has been very dry, to the point of peeling sometimes, as well as my upper cheeks/undereye area. So in my battle against turning into a reptile I’ve discovered some great “dry skin superheroes” which have really helped – and could be what you need if you’re struggling with dry winter skin. These are mostly natural, plant-based products, none of which are tested on animals.

Thanks to these I have completely banished my dry skin problems and can finally wear foundation again! I just tried the REN cleansing balm for the first time last night and it totally agreed with my skin, leaving it very supple and clean without a hint of tightness or dryness. More time-consuming than a cleansing milk, but totally worth it!

P.S If you’d like the price of any of these products just drop me a line in the comment box and I will let you know.

Unfortunately the Clarins moisturizers were the best I tried, but pretty expensive! The Balm Balm face balms are also very good and only R140 (and all natural). The Paula’s Choice serum is also great for a moisture boost and antioxidants, it is R275 I think, but you would need an additional moisturiser
