I swore up and down to never buy anything from L’Oreal or Estée Lauder directly, and now I have once again proven how flaky I am. I have been searching high and low for a really lengthening mascara, and after reading Viviana Does Makeup and seeing the L’Oreal Telescopic mascara raved about for the millionth time I went straight to Dischem and just bought some. I chose the false lash one, thinking that if I loved it I could come back and get the waterproof one another time.
Firstly, I think I have been going for the wrong type of mascara brush. I definitely love the narrow plastic one with tiny spikes. It looks a little clumpy in this photo but it generally doesn’t clump much (my lashes grow weirdly criss-crossed). For a product on my banned list I am afraid to say this mascara has become one I reach for quite often. Sure, my lashes don’t look like Viviana’s (boo) but my lashes are very short to begin with and I have slightly hooded eyes. It doesn’t provide much volume but rather length and definition You should see what it looks like on some people with long lashes…amazing. You know what I actually need? A bloody eyelash curler! Seriously.
I had so many options from Chanel to YSL and ended up trying this because it was only R170, and mascara is one thing I think you can save on because the less expensive brands make some amazing mascaras. It is incredibly difficult to remove though, despite not even being waterproof. It also tends to flake a bit during the day, especially the lower lashes. I have banned myself from buying mascara again until the end of the year, when I have an urge to splash out on something like the Sublime de Chanel in dark brown for natural-looking day wear. Just a whim.
