Clarins Instant Light Brush on Perfector

While I’m on the subject of Clarins I might as well dedicate the week to my favourite and least favourite Clarins product. The bronzer was a slight disappointment, but this more than makes up for it. I got the Instant Light Brush-on Perfector in my box of spoils from Nicole (post and photos here) and it is one my favourite Clarins makeup products.

This is a similar type of product to YSL Touche Eclat in a similar packaging format, but it isn’t quite as bankrupting. I haven’t actually got anything to compare it with because I haven’t used this type of product before, but I have been amazed by it.

This nifty gold pen does a lot of work. It is light-reflecting and radiance-boosting, so it helps to hide shadows and imperfections. It also illuminates and smooths skin, diminishes noticeable fine lines and pores. This is a lot for one product to claim to do, but I feel that it lives up to its claims. It contains hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture and oat extract for a tightening effect (your skin won’t feel tight though). The formula is designed not to settle in or highlight fine lines.

I don’t suffer from really dark circles, just some shadows at the inner corners of my eyes. This really improves the look of my entire eye area. I also use it along my smile lines and around my nose. Sometimes I also use it as a highlighter under my brows, on my cupid’s bow and the bridge of my nose. Basically, any area of my face that looks a bit dodgy gets brushed with this wonder stuff and blended into insignificance. The photo below doesn’t really highlight the improvement clearly, it is very subtle, and I suspect the mascara made the biggest difference. But in real life it really brings some light to the skin.

Yet more plus points: it is very long lasting, it sets into a matte finish that doesn’t crease or cake, and it looks natural on the skin. I have shade 00 light beige which is the lightest shade. It also comes in 02 medium beige and 03 golden beige. I might try shade 02 for mid-summer. The Instant Light Brush-on Perfector retails for R315. Worth every cent!

I have such hideous dark circles under my eyes and haven’t been able to find the right product to hide them just yet – I might need to give this a try.
