Soleil Tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid

Since I’m gearing up for summer I’ve been eyeing the Chanel bronzing products for a while, and when I missed out on the Benefit Sunbeam on Nicole’s blog sale I took it as a divine sign that I should take the plunge and get the first of the two products my heart has been desiring, the Soleil Tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid. I have read many great reviews of this product and the general consensus seems to be that it adds radiance without emphasising pores.

I’m not going to lie to you, I struggle to use this product a little bit. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but I am still trying to work out the perfect method of application because it is wearing two hats, so to speak. It has a golden-bronze shimmer but isn’t sparkly. It can be used as a very light and subtle bronzer for pale skin, but then it is a bit too shimmery to use on large areas of your face. It makes a pretty highlighter, but because it has the very slight bronze tint it could look a little odd on your cheekbones if you’re very pale. See the dilemma?

I wanted to add a photo of what it looks like on my face but it really doesn’t show up in photos once it is blended in. But the swatch above is what it looks like before being sheered out. It can also be mixed with your foundation or BB cream to give it a bit of radiance, which I have tried but didn’t see a noticeable difference.

I think this product is best used in conjunction with the Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base, which is a flattering cream bronzer that seems to suit many skin tones. That is definitely on my wish list, because I think if this is worn as a highlighter over the bronzer it will really add a golden sheen and look great for summer. If you find a video anywhere on application of this, please let me know in the comments!

The weird thing is it is really light as a bronzer and hardly shows up but as an illuminator it makes my cheekbones slightly rose gold which can look odd if I don’t wear bronzer because I’m so pale! Odd product, but still so pretty!! 😛

I’ll do a bit of online research for you and will let you know what I find. 🙂

It sounds like a difficult product and for that price, I’d want a product that is a bit easier to work with.
