This is the first Esse product I have purchased and I am highly impressed and very pleased to have discovered it. I have tried a lot of exfoliators and because my skin became sensitised along the way it can no longer cope with granular exfoliators at all.
When I had my Dermalogica face mapping I was told I needed to knock my exfoliating routine into shape. Obviously they meant the Daily Microfoliant, but that not quite being in my budget currently I searched for something just as gentle but equally as effective. And as luck would have it I found exactly what I was looking for in the Esse Microderm Exfoliator.
I ordered mine from Rubybox for R214.95 (they have free delivery until New Year, by the way. Now is the perfect time to order!). Nicci from Esse was incredibly friendly and helpful in answering my questions about this product. It contains micro-particles of calcium carbonate that gently polish the skin’s surface. So you can’t see them or feel them, but they are working at a micro level. Fascinating.
You just scoop out a bit, mix with a few drops of water and gently massage in circular motions for a minute or two. This exfoliator is perfect for sensitive skin as it contains nothing abrasive whatsoever. It also contains rooibos extract which improves circulation and decreases the risks of pigmentation. My skin feels great after using this, and the most important thing is that it does not cause any sensitivity, redness or breakouts which I have often experienced in the past when using new products. My skin looks and feels better than it has in quite a while.
Esse is an amazing African brand because they are organic and Ecocert certified, which means the ingredients are safe, sustainable and environmentally friendly. They are also cruelty free. I have definitely added the cream mask to my “must get” shopping list, as I think it will be a fabulous follow-up after using this exfoliator and it is perfect for dehydrated skin.
