Accent is the limited edition Joues Contraste blush that Chanel has released as part of their holiday 2013 collection. When I first saw the collection the blush was the one thing that really caught my eye, because the colour is so unique. I was super spoilt to receive it as part of a Christmas gift swap with Nicole from Princess Noo.
Like their cream blush and other makeup compacts, the powder blush comes in a velvet pouch, which some people think are wasteful packaging but which I find extremely useful to protect my compacts in my makeup bag and for storage. These things are like my babies. They need swaddling.
The brush inside is pretty useless, but who cares because this blush is the most gorgeous thing ever to hit the Christmas shelves. They call it a pink beige, but it is a pale rose brown colour, pretty difficult to describe, with a hint of shimmer in it. If you’re not one for shimmer in blush, don’t let this scare you off. When it is applied the shimmer isn’t obvious, and it doesn’t highlight pores at all. The powder itself is beautifully soft and easy to pick up with a brush. A gentle tap or two does it for me. And I have to mention that it smells lovely, like roses.
I suspect I am going to develop a slight Chanel blush addiction over time because these are such a pleasure to use. This blush is a really unique colour and also lasts well throughout the day. I do need to touch up around 3pm, but it lasts a good eight hours on me. It’s superbly blendable and buildable. I’ve worn it with red lips, with pink-toned and with beige-toned nude lips, and the colour goes well with all of them. Here is what it looks like on.
This blush retails for R485, so definitely on the pricier end of the blush scale – but you’re paying for a high-end brand with amazing quality. This blush would make the perfect Christmas gift for a makeupaholic who has everything, but hurry and get your hands on it because it is limited edition.
