Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua | Natural light makeup

It is a bit of a Chanel fest here at Mother City Mom a lately, but the bug has bitten, so it probably isn’t the end. Having recently acquired a great medium to full coverage foundation which doesn’t budge in the Estée Lauder Double Wear, I was in need of a perfect light to medium, weightless formula for everyday wear. Enter Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF15.

20131202-120151.jpgThis foundation has a fluid texture and needs to be shaken vigorously before use. I have the shade B20 (equivalent of Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation in 52 Vanilla, Clarins Skin Illusion in 108 Sand or Estee Lauder Double Wear in Ivory Nude). They are completely right in their claim that it is ultra-light, as it isn’t noticeable on your skin at all. If you look at the swatch below you can’t see it once it is blended, but my hand looks nicer (if I do say so myself).

20131202-120219.jpgSPF15 isn’t really adequate, but then I don’t know anybody who relies on their foundation for sun protection. Do you? I use the Stila Hydrating Primer SPF30 underneath it. The coverage is light to medium (I’d say more medium) and covers my freckles and red marks without being heavy or visible on the skin. This is a really great everyday foundation which works for various skin types. My skin is dry but it doesn’t feel uncomfortable or tight, or start to flake later in the day (sadly my Clarins foundation does that) even though it has a semi-matte finish.

swatchesHere is what it looks like on. I also used the Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid and Bobbi Brown concealer, but no setting powder or anything else. I’m really impressed with the results! Skin perfection for only R505. Okay, that’s a lot for a foundation, but you only need a little and it lasts a long time. So it’s worth the splurge.
