The makers of Bio Oil have introduced a whole range of new Lipidol oils, which I’m sure you’ve seen in Clicks lately. I wasn’t able to attend the launch but I received a Lipidol After Shower Oil with my invitation, and being hugely impressed I recently added the Lipidol Body Cleansing Oil to my shower routine as well. I’m a big fan of facial cleansing oils (which is next on my Lipidol shopping list) and contrary to what some people might think oil is in fact a very effective way of cleansing even oily skin.
At first I wasn’t wowed by the packaging of this range, as the clear plastic bottles reminded me a lot of medicine and I am always drawn to pretty packaging. I’ve given it a lot of thought (how deep are my thoughts, right?) and I’ve decided that it is in fact very useful to have plastic bottles for transport, safety and recycling reasons. In the shower labels tend to melt off, things getting slippery…basically a label-free, plastic bottle is the way to go, even if it doesn’t win the pretty award.
The cleansing body oil washes without stripping your skin’s natural oily layer, so it is a very gentle form of cleansing. If you’re using normal body wash or soap it can strip some of the skin’s natural oils, leaving you with dry skin (that’s where the after shower oil comes in). The cleansing body oil emulsifies when it comes in contact with water and can easily be rinsed off, leaving skin moisturised without residue or oiliness to the touch. It contains Key lime oil which gives it a really nice scent. It also contains neem oil which is antimicrobial.
The after shower oil, if used sparingly, absorbs very quickly and also doesn’t leave skin feeling oily. It is also more or less odourless, so it won’t clash with any fragrance you wear. The range also includes a Cleansing Face Oil, Sunscreen Oil, After Shave Oil and an Overnight Face Oil. Each oil is priced at R80 and available at Clicks. I like that they’re all the same price and have got you pretty much covered from cleansing to moisturising.
