A very clever makeup remover

I’ve had this AA Micellar Fluid + Peeling 2 in 1 makeup remover for combination skin for quite a while now, and despite being ridiculously impressed with its multi-tasking abilities I realised this weekend that I haven’t mentioned it yet.

I’m a big fan of micellar water because it is the easiest, quickest way to clean your face when you’re in a rush, or half asleep, or whatever the case. I’m also a big fan of what Caroline Hirons calls ‘acid toners’ or what I’d call gentle liquid exfoliators. If the two products were to have a baby, it would be this AA makeup remover. Pure genius.

In a nutshell, this makeup remover is like a miscellar water with a few added benefits, namely a DryMatt complex which helps mattify and balance combination skin, and AHAs to gently exfoliate. The cherry on top is that it also contains zinc gluconate, which helps heal and prevent blemishes by regulating sebum and acting as an anti-inflammatory. It’s been a while since I met a product which does as many things in one go as this one does.

While it is supposed to be a makeup remover, the one downside is that you can’t use it on your eyes – obviously due to the AHAs. Also, as I double cleanse I feel that removing my makeup with this and then washing the beneficial ingredients off afterwards would be a bit pointless. So I pretty quickly stopped thinking of it as a makeup remover and started using it as a quick and easy morning cleanser and exfoliator in one. Sometimes at night I will remove my makeup with a cleansing balm and then use this afterwards to remove any last traces and get my exfoliating in. That way it stays on my skin. But I really prefer to use it in the morning when I’m in a rush. Just remember as it contains AHAs you need to use a good SPF in your skincare routine. It’s a very gentle exfoliator, similar to the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner.

If you’ve got combination skin that gets a little oily in the day, or you’re prone to occasional breakouts, then this product is seriously worth trying! Especially if you’re busy and don’t always have time for a routine with 50 steps, then this affordable multi-tasker is must-try. Retails for R200 (same as Bioderma Sensibio H2O at Clicks, but this gives you way more bang for your buck I think). You can order it online from Glamore Cosmetics.
