Dior State of Gold Holiday 2015

I’ve decided this year to buy my own birthday and Christmas gifts and then wrap them up and leave them for my husband to give me on the day. This suits me just fine, because then I get exactly what I want. I decided this year to get myself something really, really special from the Dior holiday collection because it is the kind of special thing that I couldn’t justify for any other occasion. Before I wrap it up until the 17th I thought I would give you a good look at the highlight of the Dior holiday collection, and an overview of the collection as a whole. But as it has just come into stores you had better hurry if anything catches your eye.

The one thing in the collection that caught my eye (and this is the case every year) was the Golden Light Compact Powder, a beautiful highlighting powder that comes in either sumptuous pink or luxurious beige. This is the collection’s most precious item and it comes packaged for a queen in a wrapped gold box. The compact itself is so heavy it might as well be made of real gold, and the powder contains micro particles of golden shimmer throughout. It also comes with a matching gold brush which has its own pocket in the velvet dust cover. It’s not the sort of thing that I would chuck in a makeup bag, because at R1150 it is a seriously luxury work of art.

To be honest for everyday highlighting I prefer my theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer, but with its flecks of gold (which won’t show up in pictures!) this would be perfect for Christmas parties and special occasions. If you’re looking for a very special gift for a makeup lover then this would make a beautiful collectible piece. It’s a bit like art.

If you’re looking for something more affordable but still special, one of the nail polishes would also make a great Christmas gift as the round golden-topped bottles only come out at Christmas time.
