I have always loved Chanel’s Les Beiges products. The whole ‘belle mine’ concept is right up my alley (that’s like a natural healthy glow if my translation is correct) and with their unique beige packaging they have long been catching my eye. When I heard Chanel was adding a foundation to the Les Beiges roundup I thought this was a stroke of genius, one of those things I didn’t know I had been waiting for all my life, but apparently I had.
The Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation SPF25 is every bit as wonderful as I had expected it to be. For a few years I’ve considered Vitalumiere Aqua my holy grail foundation, but if this hasn’t knocked it off the top spot then it has become a joint number one. If you have normal to dry skin and prefer a less matte foundation, or if you’ve got along well with Vitalumiere Aqua, then this is a must-try.
I bought this because I was desperate for a more hydrating, dewier and more natural looking foundation. My skin having finally cleared up completely I don’t need as much coverage. I got shade B30 because this summer I’ve definitely been more tanned than I’ve ever been. I am usually shade B20 in Chanel foundation. When I get pale again I can always add some lightening drops, or quite frankly I’m willing to go and buy another bottle in B20 for winter. It’s that good. At the moment for Autumn I’m mixing in a dollop of Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base in 02 champagne.
The foundation is creamy and hydrating, and while it isn’t overly dewy it dries down a bit to an extremely natural-looking glow. It can be applied just as well with fingers or a brush, and disappears seamlessly into the skin. It doesn’t quite have the staying powder of Vitalumiere Aqua if your t-zone gets a little oily, but I use Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder over it to finish it off and it lasts really well on me. The coverage I would say is medium. It’s looks sheer and natural, yet it covers quite a bit when it comes to any redness or freckles.
If you’re looking for a new foundation then I can’t recommend this one enough! If you like a high coverage and more matte finish then it won’t be for you, but if any of the above ticks your boxes then it’s really worth a try. It’s R785 at Chanel counters.
